Celebrating National Black Business Month: The Story Behind All Fresh Carpet Cleaners
Summary:Every August, National Black Business Month recognizes Black entrepreneurs and the businesses they have built across the United States. For All Fresh Carpet Cleaners, the month has special meaning. It allows us to celebrate entrepreneurship, community, hard work, and the customers who have helped a locally owned Stone Mountain business grow for more than a decade. Founded by Atlanta native Rashid Rashad in 2010, All Fresh Carpet Cleaners is a proudly Black-owned business serving homeowners and businesses across Stone Mountain, Atlanta, and surrounding communities. Behind the work we do today is an entrepreneurial story that began years before All Fresh opened its doors. What Is National Black Business Month? National Black Business Month is observed every August to recognize Black-owned businesses and the contributions Black entrepreneurs make to communities and the U.S. economy. The observance began in 2004 through the efforts of historian John William Templeton and engineering entrepreneur Frederick E. Jordan Sr. It was created to draw greater attention to Black-owned businesses, encourage economic participation, and highlight the challenges Black entrepreneurs face when starting and growing their companies. For All Fresh, the occasion reflects values that have been part of our company from the beginning: entrepreneurship, independence, opportunity, service, and giving back. From Atlanta Roots to Entrepreneurship Rashid Rashad was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1967 and grew up in Historic Techwood Homes, the first public housing project built in the United States. After graduating from Henry Grady High School, Rashid attended Savannah State University on a four-year athletic football scholarship. His professional career later took him to UPS, where he spent 13 years as a delivery driver and received recognition for safe driving and excellent customer service. But Rashid had always wanted to build something of his own. In 2000, he decided to take that first step into entrepreneurship. Without established business contacts, contracts, small-business loans, or borrowed money, he purchased his first delivery van and founded Navigator Express. That decision became the beginning of a much larger entrepreneurial journey. Building All Fresh Carpet Cleaners in Stone Mountain In 2010, Rashid founded All Fresh Carpet Cleaners with a vision that went beyond starting another cleaning company. He wanted to build a business known for quality work, excellent customer service, strong ethical principles, and genuine care for the people it served. Professional education became an important part of that commitment. Rashid continued developing his industry knowledge and earned certification as a carpet cleaning technician and water restoration technician through the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). The All Fresh team has continued that emphasis on professional training and proper cleaning techniques. Today, the company provides professional carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, commercial carpet cleaning, odor removal, and floor care services for homes and businesses throughout Metro Atlanta. Our approach also considers the families who live in the homes we clean. All Fresh uses cleaning solutions designed to be pet- and child-friendly, along with methods that can reduce water usage and help carpets and upholstery dry faster. For us, however, professional cleaning has never been only about equipment or technique. It’s about doing the work properly and earning the confidence of the people who trust us with their homes and businesses. A Business Built With a Bigger Purpose One of the most important parts of the All Fresh story is why Rashid wanted to build the company in the first place. Along with providing professional cleaning services, he saw entrepreneurship as a way to create opportunity. One of his goals has been to help young men in the community develop practical skills that can contribute to greater independence, freedom, and financial stability for themselves and their families. That commitment extends well beyond the business. Rashid has mentored young men in local neighborhoods, participated in humanitarian missions, served in leadership roles with community organizations, and supported efforts assisting people experiencing homelessness. Giving back has also become part of the company’s philosophy. All Fresh has supported charitable efforts and organizations serving communities in DeKalb and Fulton counties. For Rashid, building a successful business and helping strengthen the community have always gone hand in hand. Why Supporting Black-Owned Local Businesses Matters National Black Business Month puts an important spotlight on Black entrepreneurship, but supporting local businesses matters throughout the year. Behind every local business are people who live, work, hire, purchase, volunteer, and invest within their communities. When these businesses grow, their impact can extend far beyond the products or services they sell. For All Fresh, that impact has been made possible by our customers. Every appointment, referral, recommendation, review, and returning customer has helped an Atlanta entrepreneur continue building a business rooted right here in Stone Mountain. That’s something we never take for granted. Proud of Where We Started and Where We’re Going What began with one entrepreneur willing to invest in his own future has grown into a company trusted by homeowners and businesses across the area. This National Black Business Month, we’re proud to recognize Rashid’s journey from his Atlanta roots to entrepreneurship and the business he has built. We’re equally proud of the values that have remained part of All Fresh along the way: quality service, integrity, opportunity, and community. Most importantly, we’re grateful to the people who made that journey possible. Whether you’ve welcomed our team into your home, trusted us with your business, recommended All Fresh to someone you know, or supported us in another way, thank you for being part of our story. We look forward to continuing to serve our community for many years to come. Frequently Asked Questions: Q1. Is All Fresh Carpet Cleaners a Black-owned business? A1. Yes.
